Ontario PC Party Has a Real Plan to Help Working People

SAULT STE. MARIE — Doug Ford today visited the site of the former St. Mary’s Papers mill factory to talk about how the Ontario PC Plan For the People will help working people find and keep good jobs and make ends meet. As part of his plan, Ford committed that an Ontario PC Government will use the Northern Ontario Heritage fund to keep the Huron Central Railway open.
“It does not matter who you voted for in the past: Liberal, NDP or PC,” said Ford. “Everyone is welcome in our big-tent Ontario PC Party and we will have a real plan for you. Our plan will lower hydro rates, cut red tape, reduce the tax burden on Ontario families, end unfair labour practices and cut gas prices by ten cents a litre.”
Ford contrasted the Ontario PCs growing, big-tent party, to an increasingly radical NDP, with a documented record of trying to destroy jobs in Northern Ontario in order to appease radical special interests. This includes NDP candidate Ramsey Hart — a career anti-mining activist who is dedicated to eliminating resource jobs across the North.“We’ve seen what happens when the NDP are handed the keys to power,” said Ford. “The last time the NDP were in charge, we got Rae Days, unemployment increased 28 per cent, 125,000 workers lost their job and 1.2 million people ended up on welfare. The NDP are where bad policies and radical politics comes together. They are poison for jobs.”

Ford highlighted the recent endorsement Sault Ste. Marie PC Candidate Ross Romano received from United Steelworkers Local 2251 — the first time the Steelworkers have endorsed a non-NDP candidate since the 1960s.

“Our plan for the people is a plan for workers, including union workers,” said Ford. “To our friends in the steel industry, you can count on us to always fight for you. Change is coming and help is on the way.”

Help is on the way.
